Devon and Emma are soaking up all the stunning views and sunrays in Cabo right now, so it's the best time to reminisce on their incredible wedding day this past Friday. Being a photographer capturing a fellow photographer's wedding is a tremendous honor, the most effortless ride, and in the same breath, the most nerve-wracking thing. Wanting to capture the day perfectly is a must!
The day started as the wedding party and the immediate family arrived on a beautiful, blue-sky day at The Barn at Kennedy Farm in Lizton, Indiana. Finishing touches of the venue began alongside hair, makeup, and putting on the day's looks. The most loving moments before the ceremony included the gift that Ellie, the bride's mother, gifted the bride, having tears fall from her eyes right after makeup touches. The couple went against a first look and instead had a "first touch" where they held hands and exchanged letters before the two saw each other for the first time. And the moment right before the ceremony when Emma had her reveal with Chuck, the bride's father before he walked her down the aisle.
Devon shed tears when he laid eyes on Emma as she walked down the aisle, arms linked with her dad. The couple had a dear photo friend who officiated the wedding and had the couple's friends and family in tears from the emotions behind her voice. After a sweet ceremony under an arbor shrouded with eucalyptus and greenery, the couple walked together back down the aisle, ending their walk with a fist bump.
A little backstory about me is that I would cry at every single wedding at the beginning of my wedding career. It's been a while since the last time I cried from a wedding after being in the field for ten years, but let me tell you. Seeing the Mason's family dancing together as a family to a song from the movie "Moana" had me bawling behind my mask.
I could go on for so long about Mr. and Mrs. "motherfucking" Mason, but for now, take a look at their wedding day through my eyes from these sneak previews.
